Butternut saw snow for the first time on Saturday, and subsequently made the front page of the Sunday Argus, here in Cape Town. Here are some pics:

The Camping Cat...
In March it was decided we would go camping with my parents and our family friends. Because the idea of leaving Butternut alone was too horrible we decided we would take him with, and brave the endless possibilities of possible problems that could occur (cat claws + blow up mattress...= sleeping on the ground!?!)
However to the amazement of most Butternut was on best behavior, during the day we put him on his extender-leash to explore the close environment and at night we put him in the tent with us. He had his own "camping chair" to sit on with everyone else around the table.

So we've spoken about Butternut playing fetch, but up until now we haven't got it on camera. Finally we have:

Tygervalley/Willowbridge
Over this weekend we decided to go to the Willowbridge outdoor market. Butternut absolutely loved this as there were lots of birds and insects flying about. He also received lots of attention and love from passer-bys.
From here we went to Tygervalley to go and do a bit of shopping. Butternut sat in the trolley and watched as everyone went past, being absolutely angelically well behaved....
We decided to try and see if BN would eat some Butternut Purity (knowing that he liked the steamed one that Grant was eating)...Well, we'd found a hit, he couldn't get enough, eating it off a plastic spoon and practically attacking me for more!!

A friend called Daisy
On Butternuts first few visits to his Gran & Grampa it became apparent the other cats were not keen on the idea of being Butternuts friends, however one member of the household was very keen to become friends with Butternut. The almost 3 year old Great Dane, Daisy! Butternut took to her immediately, smacking her floppy lips (no claws) and attacking her tail. Below are pictures of one of their "playdates". Since these Butternut & Daisy enjoy regular playdates when Butternut comes to visit. Daisy eagerly runs up to greet me whenever I go to my parents in the hope Butternut has come along!
